James Edward Crum, Sr. (Alpha Zeta) 1932-2006

On Friday, January 13, 2006, JAMES E. CRUM of Mount Airy, Maryland, beloved husband of Gail Ann Cooley Crum; father of Thomas A. Crum, Douglas E. Crum and James E. Crum, Jr., brother of Norman E. Crum, and the late Dr. W. Alan Crum, Jr. There are six grandchildren, several cousins, nieces & nephews. Friends may call 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 at St. James Episcopal Church, 202 North Main Street, Mount Airy, Maryland, where funeral services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be Friday, January 20 in Lutherania Cemetery, Richmond, Indiana. Laura Anderson McBride (Eta Omicron) 1957-2006

Director of Bands at Fairfax County’s Westfield High School, died of breast cancer on January 2, 2006 at the age of 48.

The former Laura Jean Anderson was a native of Urbana, Illinois.

Mrs. McBride’s first teaching position in the Washington area was as Assistant Band Director at Woodbridge High School from 1991 to 1992. Afterwards, she spent eight years as the Director of Bands at JEB Stuart High School in Falls Church. In September, 2000, Mrs. McBride opened the newly built Westfield High School, where her bands consistently received Superior Ratings at the VBODA band festival and earned recognition by performances at the VMEA State Convention, the Festivals of Music Awards Ceremony in Boston, and the Bands of America Festival in Indianapolis.

Mrs. McBride is survived by her husband, Robert McBride of Woodbridge; two sisters, Janet Golaszewski of Urbana, Illinois and Beth Jannusch of St. Joseph, Illinois. She was the daughter of Barbara Anderson, also of Urbana, and the late James Anderson.

Memorial services will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 on Friday, January 6, 2006 at FAIRFAX MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 9200 Braddock Road, Fairfax VA. The family will be receive friends for visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, thefamily requests that donations be made to the Westfield High School Music Booster Club at Westfield High School, 4700 Stonecroft Blvd., Chantilly, VA 20151 or to a local high school band or music booster organization.

Dr. August Norbert Carnovale (Beta Gamma) 1932-2000

Dr. Norbert Carnovale, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, in Hattiesburg.

Dr. Carnovale was formerly of Biloxi and was a resident of Hattiesburg. He was a retired professor of music at the University of Southern Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leborah Alfonso Carnovale.

Survivors include a son, Norman Carnovale of Memphis; two daughters, Noranne Carnovale of LaGrange, Ga., and Phylanne Prince of Fairfax, Va.; and longtime companion Jo Ezell of Hattiesburg.

A service will be at 10 a.m. today at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. A graveside service will follow 1 p.m. in Southern Memorial Cemetery in Biloxi.

The family prefers memorials to the USM Foundation, Dr. Norbert Carnovale Music 2000
