Andy Harrison Thornton (Eta Sigma) 1996-2017

Andy Harrison Thornton, 21, of Longwood, Florida passed away on March 25, 2017. Mr. Thornton was born on February 20, 1996 in Albany, Georgia. He was a student at Stetson University, and was an alumni of the Eta Sigma chapter at the University of Central Florida.  Mr. Thornton is survived by his loving parents Buddy and Wanda Sue Thornton; and sister Samantha Thornton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made via gofundme. All proceeds will be passed on to Anxiety and Depression Association of America and other causes specific to Andy.

Leonard A. ” Lenny” Knight (Eta Psi) 1970-2017

Leonard A. Knight, Jr., born November 30, 1970, passed away on Mar. 14, 2017, at Bay Health Medical Center.  Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday Mar. 25, 2017, at 11 a.m., at “The Theatre” at Dover High School, 1 Dover High Dr., Dover, DE 19904; with visitation two hours prior to the service. There will also be a Musical Celebration of Life held on Friday, Mar. 24, 2017, at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Dover High School.

Scott Stowell Alumni Excellence Award Nominations Now Open

As we approach the 2017 National Convention, the KKPsi Alumni Association Board of Directors announces the opening of applications for the Scott Stowell Alumni Excellence Award. The deadline for receiving nominations is May 15, 2017 with the award being presented at the 2017 National Convention in Orlando, Florida this coming July.

Points to consider in your thought process regarding a potential nominee are:

1) How does your nominee continuously serve and support the greater Fraternity?

2) How does your nominee continuously support and strengthen the role of alumni?

3) How does your nominee continuously serve and support our active membership?

4) How does your nominee truly take Brotherhood to heart?

5) Does your nominee regularly attend District/National conventions?

6) How does your nominee fit the “What can I do for you”                                                                                                            state of mind?

Katrina Renee Seaburn (Epsilon Phi) 1994-2017

Katrina Renee Seaburn, 22, of Curwensville died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 as the result of an accident.

Born Oct. 3, 1994 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Thomas Seaburn Jr. and Tammy (DeHaven) Seaburn.

She was a senior at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She was majoring in accounting.

She was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and the Accounting Club. She was also named to the Dean’s List.

She also attended the Curwensville Alliance Church.

She was a 2013 honors graduate from Curwensville Area Junior-Senior High School. Not only did she excel in academics, she was also a stand-out athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball. She was named as a Progressland Athlete of the Week in basketball while in high school.

She was also a champion baton twirler, using her talents as a Golden Tide feature twirler for three years at Riverside Stadium. She then became a majorette at Clarion University, where she was captain for three of the four years she was on the field.

She earned numerous twirling awards, which ranged from local competitions to regional, state, international and world titles. She was named as 2011 T.U. International Duet Strut champion as well as a T.U. Regional Majorette that same year.

She was a member of both Dream Catchers Twirling & Dance Academy of Clearfield and Touch of Gold Baton & Flag teams of Curwensville.

Surviving are her mother and her life partner, William Holt of Curwensville; her father of Hyde; her maternal grandmother, Carol Bauman of Curwensville; her paternal grandmother, Connie Seaburn of Hyde; and her maternal great-great uncle, Irvin LeRoy Bauman of Curwensville.

Also surviving are her maternal aunts and uncles, Shelly Shimmel and life partner, Neil Wolf of Osceola Mills, Beth Rogers and her husband, John of Clearfield and Ronald Patterson and his wife, Lydia of Maryland; her paternal aunts and uncles, Lee Seaburn and his wife, Amy of St. Marys and John Seaburn of Hyde; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ronald and Mildred Bauman and paternal grandfather, Thomas Seaburn Sr.

Funeral Services for Katrina Seaburn will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Curwensville Alliance Church with the Rev. Stephen Shields officiating.  Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Olanta.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc., Curwensville, and from 10 a.m. until the start of services Tuesday at the church.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Katrina Seaburn Memorial Scholarship Trust in care of 300 State St., Curwensville, PA 16833.

You don’t, but we do understand the confusion. Life Membership is a status established with the Fraternity. Your KKPsiAA Membership is completely separate from your Life Membership. Life Members receive complimentary membership in the KKPsiAA, but they have to complete the membership form annually to keep their memberships current.

Newly Forming LAA Alert – Jackson State Area AA

The Jackson State Area Alumni Association, a newly forming Local Alumni Association, is in its beginning stages of approval with the KKPsiAA. This is a regional LAA, looking to recruit members who reside in the Jackson, MS area. The goal of the JSAAA is to form a centralized location for alumni members to collectively assist local college and university bands.

Marveo Leon Stofford, II (Kappa Lambda) 1989-2017

Marveo Leon Stofford II, 27, who was born to Yolanda D. Wilson and Marveo L. Stofford, in Rowan County on Nov. 28,1989 won the victory to be in the Bosom of God on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was a 2008 graduate of North Rowan High School, a 2013 graduate of Winston Salem State University and he was employed at Wells Fargo. He was a faithful member of World of Faith Outreach Ministry where he played drums, taught Sunday School, drove a van and was trustee. He leaves cherish memories to his mother, Yolanda D. (Thurston J. Sanders) Wilson of the home; brother, Jayland Jerome Sanders of the home; fiancée, Ta’Mika Miller of Michigan; and a host of other relatives and relatives. Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at Word of Faith Outreach Ministry. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 11 a.m. prior to service. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Wilson family.
